Come to meet a group of hard-core meditators in this weekly free, secular meditation class. This class is open to all people, regardless of your profession, religious believe, culture background, or ethnicity. The technique you are about to learn is based on "CHAN" (a.k.a "Zen" before it was translated into Japanese) tradition that was popularized by CHAN masters in the 7th century, and was passed down from generation to generation for over a thousand years. The ten chakra observance during medi …

This is an established meditation group running for more than 5 years opening up to new members using meetup.com. We are an intimate group that is non-dogmatic, non-sectarian and primarily focused on meditation practice and sutta study. The group meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at a private residence in Los Feliz near Griffith Park. Meetings consist of a 25 minute silent meditation followed by a 40 minute dharma/sutta talk led by Sunim Hye Wol, followed by another 25 minute sit. Aft …
You are invited to join us in our daily meditation practice. We sit Monday trough Friday at 'Against The Stream' - a great place to sit. Pillows are provided as well as some guidance if you need some. All techniques are welcome (just no chanting for obvious reasons). It's a great way to start the day and it's free.

Namaste! I started this group to connect with other people in search of understanding. Whether it is a matter of the spirit, heart, mind or body, this is a place where we can gather to learn and explore; give and receive. We will be having workshops and forums that explore the different aspects of our modern, urban existence. Meditation, yoga, dating and romance, nutrition and fitness are just a few of the topics we will explore. Learn more about us at our website: www.EverydayZenRelaxationStudi …
… For example, we utilize the Chan training techniques in order to increase our samadhi (concentration) power when we recite the Buddha’s name, whether in sitting or walking meditation. As our concentration grows stronger, our minds become calmer, less stressed, and more focused, enabling us to not only be healthier, but also function more effectively at whatever we put our minds to. Most of the Buddhist teachings that made it to the West have been trimmed down to suit Western culture. Howe …
We practice mindfulness in the tradition of Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. We will occasionally join the local Sanghas that meet once a week. We also practice mindfulness in nature with Gaia Sangha: sometimes that is a meditative beach clean up, or a walk in Griffith Park. We will also meet up for special events like Thich Nhat Hanh's public talk in Pasadena or retreats at Deer Park monastery. We vary in our experience with meditation and the study of Buddhism, but share a common d …
THE TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA with Etan Boritzer Develop a sense of urgency. -- The Buddha by donation Because of the great variety of Buddhist traditions currently practiced (Tibetan, Tantric, Zen, etc) there is some confusion as to the basic tenets which Siddatha Gotama (563 BC to 480 BC) the Buddha himself taught to the order of monks, nuns and laity in Northern India for 45 years after his 'awakening.' THE TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA presents these basic tenets and their conceptual bearings dir …
… This is not a spiritual practice or meditation group. This is more a group about enjoying the discussion of topics of non-duality and spirituality in the vein of Alan Watts who viewed himself as a "spiritual entertainer". The discussions may be serious or may be light, but in the end just for the entertainment of the mind. You can be a vegetarian and abstainer from spirits or a carnivore and a connoisseur of fine wine or beer and you are welcome in this Meetup Group. We'll make sure our Meet …
